What is your role?
I have a few different ‘hats’! I am one of the firm’s tax directors with particular responsibility for VAT. I head up a team of VAT specialists spread across our 11 offices dealing with all aspects of indirect taxation in addition to my general tax advisory role. I am also one of three Directors leading the firm’s specialism in the medical sector looking after the financial and tax requirements of GPs and medical practices.
What else are you involved with?
I am a member of the East Midlands Chapter of the VAT Practitioner’s Group and also sit on the ICAEW’s VAT and Duties Committee. I am the firm’s lead contact for our membership of the Association of Specialist Medical Accountants AISMA.
What interests do you have outside of work?
I am actively involved in my local church, working as a local lay minister with a particular focus in ministry with children and young people. I enjoy spending time with my three children and two grandchildren and have a passion for gardening. I also enjoy going to the theatre with my husband to see a wide range of performing arts from musicals, serious plays, ballet, comedians and music concerts.
What is the most valuable piece of advice you have been given during your career?
Always treat others as you would like to be treated yourself.
