The
town of Spalding
Spalding is a market town, surrounded by the fenlands, which grew up beside the River Welland. As well as being the administrative centre of South Holland, Spalding is an important agricultural town and renowned for the growing of tulip and daffodil bulbs, and each year the town attracts thousands of visitors for its Flower Parade. The town’s economy has been based upon agriculture and food production with around 60% of the workforce employed in the creation, processing or distribution of food.
Spalding benefits from a traditional shopping centre including the Holland Market retail area and the recently opened Springfield’s Outlet Shopping Centre and Festival Gardens. |
