The
town of Boston
Boston is the regional centre for South East
Lincolnshire, with a catchment area of approximately
80,000. Boston's economy is based upon a wide
range of industries, most notably the agricultural
and related sectors such as food processing,
packing and distribution.
Boston is a principal port on the Wash,
with a significant amount of freight being
brought in from Europe and the rest of the
world for onward distribution into the East
Midlands and the UK. Allied industries to
the port are timber processing and treatment
plus the brokering and distribution of such
items as paper and steel.
There is a significant retail sector within
the town, plus additional amenities such
as restaurants, swimming pools, sports centres,
a cinema etc.
